You'll be in charge of keeping our support rooms a safe and friendly environment for all participants - the host and your fellow peers.
What does it mean?
If a community member is violating our community guidelines (see here: Therapeer Community Guidelines), they should be handled accordingly. Some violations will result in immediate ban of this user, and some will require the moderator (that's you!) to talk with them and resolve this issue amicably in the chat room.
Violations: the 'how to respond to' guide
We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, and abusive behavior. We want our community members to be themselves, but not at the expense of someone else. Anyone found bullying, threatening, or defaming another user will be banned.
- If a peer is:
- Abusing other members (bullying, harassing, using offensive language)
- Behaving inappropriately (e.g., posting hostile or disrespectful content)
- Spamming or trolling the room (attempting to promote/sell product, posting links to off-topic websites/apps)
- Struggling to stay off topic
- Noticeably inactive for the vast majority of the session
Please do the following: report this user and we'll take it from there.
How do you report a user in such cases? Either by tapping on the 3-dots menu button found in the upper right corner of the chat room, or by tapping on the peer's avatar. Tap on 'Remove a peer'/'Remove this peer', and choose the relevant reason from the reporting options.
You may also encounter people on the app who upset or offend you without necessarily violating our guidelines. In those instances we recommend to tap on the 'Report a problem' button (found in the upper right corner of the chat room), or better yet - ignore this person and focus on assisting the host. Be the bigger person :)
